Bats set listies: House party edition.

I got to go back to the hometown on Friday night, after being invited to be a guest DJ for my lovely friend, Elk's, birthday.

It was a house party.



Somewhat in the same vein as that, yes.

It was a hootenanny, though, and I was very delighted/flattered by the crowd participation and appreciation. Though the theme was Russian Gypsy, I played quite the variety. I got to spin stuff that wasn't just goth/industrial! Not that I don't love the stuff but I mean, hey, variety is the spice of life, n'est pas?

Went from gypsy stuff the bellydancers could hula-hoop/spin poi to, to hip-hop people could get fresh to, to the goth/industrial I'm usually spinning at The Box, and then transitioning into more indie/electro stuff. Topped the night off with an 80s/early 90s dance party. Went to nearly 5:00 in the morning.

The only reason I stopped was because my comp's battery was in dire need of recharging. Success!

And booze.

Happy New Year, everybody.

I took a bit of a vacation/came down with the plague, so I didn't spin these past couple of weeks. It was a nice little breather, if you don't count the instances where I was hacking up viscous fluid.

But the spell was broken last night, when I was wrangled into spinning at Club Apparition with Mr. DJ Shadow Angel. And like Sleeping Beauty awakening by the kiss of her true love, it was magical. And stompy. Just like the fairy tale.

It was a lovely event, and I'm glad to have been part of it with y'all.

I may be making some more appearances there over the next month or so. I'll keep you posted. :)
